Community Safety in Heatwave Conditions

Residents across many parts of mainland Australia are being urged to plan ahead and prepare for a heatwave that will last into the weekend.

Temperatures will soar in the coming days as a hot air mass moves across Australia.

Temperatures are expected to reach 42 degrees in Sydney tomorrow, with similar conditions across much of New South Wales.

Western Australia is breaking heat records, with parts of the state almost reaching 50 degrees.

Your safety checklist for heatwave conditions:

1. Stay Hydrated

2. Wear Light Clothing

3. Seek Shelter During the Hottest Times

4. Check on Neighbours (especially the elderly and vulnerable)

Don’t be afraid to visit public facilities (such as a Shopping Centre or a Library) to stay cool.

Always dial 000 in a medical emergency.
